Rydanz R50 Confirmed as a Race Tyre

posted in: Motorsport 0

After due consideration, the NSW Supersprint Panel has confirmed the Rydanz R50 as a Race Tyre and it cannot be used in Championship Classes that require the use of Road Tyres.

NSW State Championship competitors who have been using these tyres at events where Road Tyres are determined by treadwear will be given dispensation by the Panel for their use in Rounds 1 and 2 of this year’s Championships.

This means that if competitors choose to change to using Road Tyres from Round 3 their points from Rounds 1 and 2 will remain. On the other hand, if competitors choose to continue to use these tyres in Round 3 and beyond, they must change to a Class that permits the use of Race Tyres (Types 2S and 3S) and their lap times for Rounds 1 and 2 will be used to recalculate Championship points in their new Race Tyre permitted Class.

Our Panel’s Technical Officers are currently conducting a review of the definition of Road Tyres in the 2026 Technical Regulations with the view to allow more affordable “Road Tyres” to be used in our 2027 Technical Regulations.

Tyre manufactures promotional material or tyres that have “For Competition Use”, “For Competition Use Only”or similar references are currently not permitted to be used as Road Tyres in “Road Tyre” Classes (Types 2R, 3R, RR, RM, RH & TA).

If you have entered Round 3 or 4 and have been using these tyres in a Road Registered Class you cannot continue to use these tyres in your current class. Either please change to Road Tyres or email me if you wish to continue to use these tyres and request a change of Class before 10:00pm Sunday 19th April. If this is not done and you compete with ineligible tyres in future rounds, your points from previous rounds will be lost, so don’t miss this opportunity!
