New Grid Group Structure for 2025
Commencing this year, the fastest group of light vehicles including racing cars defined below will now be in the last group to run in each rotation, usually Group 7. This last Group will contain the following vehicles: Formula Ford (all), Formula Vee (all), Free Formula, Clubmans, Group 2C Supersports, Group 6SR Sports Racers and Group 2A Sports Cars – all of which will not be permitted to be double entered.
Each competitor will be assigned a Preferred Group generally based on the following Ranking Times to help simplify the grid Constuction process. On the day, groups will run in the below sequence in each rotation primarily to allow adequate driver change time for competitors that have double entered their vehicle. Adjustments will be made as necessary to balance Group numbers at each Round. If numbers allow us to run 6 Groups, cars will be consolidated accordingly. The actual Groups assigned for the event may vary from the Preferred Groups.
(Based on SMSP Gardner Ranking Time in seconds)
Group 1 = Rank 2 cars: 106 to under 109 secs
Group 2 = Rank 4 cars: 114 to under 118 secs
Group 3 = Rank 1 cars: 102 to under 106 secs
Group 4 = Rank 5 cars: 118 to under 135 secs
Group 5 = Rank 3 cars: 109 to under 114 secs
Group 6 = Large cars & V8s under 118 secs
Group 7 = Race Cars and other light cars under 102 secs
