New Grid Group Structure for 2025
Commencing this year, the fastest group of light vehicles including racing cars defined below will now be in the last group to run in each rotation, usually Group 7. This last Group will contain the following vehicles: Formula Ford (all), Formula Vee (all), Free Formula, Clubmans, Group 2C Supersports, Group 6SR Sports Racers and Group 2A Sports Cars – all of which will not be permitted to be double entered.
Grid Groups will now be generally based on the following “Preferred Groups” that are based on Ranking Times and will run in the below sequence in each rotation primarily to allow adequate driver change time for competitors that have double entered their vehicle. Adjustments will be made as necessary to balance the actual Group numbers at each Round. If numbers allow us to run 6 Groups, cars will be consolidated accordingly.
(Based on SMSP Gardner Ranking Time in seconds)
Preferred Group 1 = Rank 2 cars: 106 to under 109 secs
Preferred Group 2 = Rank 4 cars: 114 to under 118 secs
Preferred Group 3 = Rank 1 cars: 102 to under 106 secs
Preferred Group 4 = Rank 5 cars: 118 to under 135 secs
Preferred Group 5 = Rank 3 cars: 109 to under 114 secs
Preferred Group 6 = Large cars & V8s under 118 secs
Preferred Group 7 = Race Cars and other light cars under 102 secs
These Groups & Ranking Times will be used to set up a preliminary Grid structure. You will be advised of your actual Group when the Preliminary Grid list is sent out to competitors about 10 days prior to the event. If your Ranking Time (or any other data) is not correct, please email Ian Williams at supersprintnsw@gmail.com with your new Ranking Time or data correction request.
Once late entries have closed and competitor feedback has been incorporated, the final Grid Groups will be set and circulated to competitors prior to the event.
Do you need to enter a vehicle that is different to the one that you originally registered for the 2025 Motorsport Australia NSW Supersprint Championship?
If so, please email supersprintnsw@gmail.com with your replacement vehicle’s details and this can be arranged for you in accordance with the Replacement Vehicle Policy.
